Canterbury City Community Centre operates as a community hub where residents can become involved in a range of activities or services, can meet others within their community or participate in the work of the Centre through Volunteering or membership. Some of our activities are ongoing and have been delivered over many years. Sometimes we have short courses or activities that are delivered on a one off basis.
All of our Services seek to fulfill our Statement of Purpose ... to connect individuals and Communities to develop and provide services responsive to community needs and individual choice; promote harmony, social inclusion and an improved quality of life; and build capacity, sustainability and resilience.
We deliver a range of Services for Older People which promote independance and can help people to remain living in their own home for longer. Some of these services are funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and some are run by seniors themselves. As an Approved Aged Care Provider we are also able to deliver Home Care Packages which are a tailored suite of services for people with more complex needs.
Canterbury City Community Centre also offers a broad range of opportunities for Learning and Development where residents can access training, workshops or short courses on a wide variety of topics. We auspice the STARS Program which provides training for volunteers, staff and Board members in not for profit Organisations in the Inner West. We also offer parenting groups, gardening workshops, english classes, small business courses ... the list is always changing and varied.
We play a critical role in bringing people together and our Community Engagement Services provide a means to build a strong and harmonious community.
We also work with other Organisations to bring services to our community which would otherwise be unavailable. Our Partnership Services currently include Women's Health, Support Services for Refugees and Asylum Seekers and Financial Counselling services.
If you know the name of the Service you want you can also navigate directly to that page using the Services box to the left.
To stay up to date on Centre activities we encourage people to subscribe to our newsletter and email alerts or to follow us on facebook. We also include details of short courses or events in the News and Events section of the website.
